These proposals were shared as part of a consultation between August and October 2023, and could change travel along the A4 between Bath and Bristol. The aim is to give better options to choose to travel sustainably – whether that’s by bus, bike, walking and if you use a wheelchair or mobility scooter – wheeling.
This could bring positive benefits. But there will be downsides too – and big choices to make along the way.
This is at a very early stage and nothing is set in stone.
Project update (July 2024)
Work on the A4 Bath to Bristol project has been continuing since we asked for feedback on the proposals last year.
We have now published the engagement report and we’d like to thank everyone who took the time to comment on the proposals.
Approval to continue work on the Bath & North East Somerset section was granted by the West of England Mayoral Combined Authority Committee (15 March 2024).
Another full consultation is planned for in the early part of 2025.
